First Build ! ( 31 - 08 -2023)


Greetings, Rats of the World,

This week has been packed with work to tackle and progress (phew).

At the beginning of the week, we decided to focus our efforts on finalizing the dialog system that is the heart of the game. Both in terms of game design and programming, it's been a real brain-teaser, a puzzle within a puzzle game. ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

BUT!

All our efforts were rewarded by a playable and testable build of Glorp Zirp! And the great news that comes with it is that we'll be able to let you play it during the coming week!

This time it's my turn, Seb, to share my feelings about the week.

This week, and especially this Wednesday, has been the most impacting day of production so far. And it's all thanks to the playtests we decided to organize. We already knew that Glorp Zirp, being a game centered around dialog and communication, would heavily depend on playtests to achieve the highest possible quality. But the reality surpassed our expectations, and I'm really happy about it because I personally organized and planned these initial playtests. My work has had a significant impact on the production, and it's personally fulfilling.

From now on, ever since the first playtests, even our pipeline and way of thinking has changed, and the project has taken an unexpected turn. Everything revolves around playtests, so it's very likely that my role within the team will shift to focus more on playtesting.

Long story short, never underestimate the importance of playtests. They change life for the better, and it's rewarding to see people play our game.

That makes a lot of 'playtest'...
